UMEED
What is it?
UMEED is a community development initiative started in 2011 in the city of Mirpur in the Azad Kashmir region of Pakistan. It has a network of partner organisations and NGOs to whom it supplies resources to in addition to its own activities which include a Youth Centre with skill-exchange workshops and female-only activities.
Who is it for?
The UMEED initiative’s different projects are primarily geared towards youth from local communities as well as any groups identified to be in need.
Why?
As a resource for NGOs and other partners UMEED supports these organisations in projects for the betterment of various communities. The Youth Centre provides a safe space for local youth to learn new skills and in turn themselves volunteer for local projects, resulting in community cohesion.
